"Innovative, original compositions, beautifully executed standards and arresting musicianship...Wilson spoke the languages of bop, Latin, avant-garde and straight-ahead jazz rhythm with equal command. His ballad work erased any distinction between traditional and modern." St. Louis Post Dispatch mattwilsonjazz.com
Matt Wilson is considered one of the most creative, talented and entertaining spirits in jazz today. Of his Arts and Crafts ensemble, Wilson notes that "I wanted to do something with a different instrumentation than the Matt Wilson Quartet. I also wanted to have the opportunity to records tunes I had stored in my 'want to record someday' file...to compose pieces that stretched the 'classic' jazz quartet instrumentation." Matt has appeared on over 170 recordings as a sideman and has performed throughout the world. He performs with a wide range of ensembles including bands led by Charlie Haden, Lee Konitz, Larry Goldings, Denny Zeitlin, Bill Mays, Jane Ira Bloom, Dena Derose, Ted Nash, Frank Kimbrough, Steve Cardenas, Mark Dresser and numerous others. In addition, he has performed and or recorded with Wynton Marsalis, Dewey Redman, Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, John Zorn, Bill Frisell, Andrew Hill, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Paul Bley, Buster Williams, Ray Anderson, Eddie Gomez, Michael Brecker, Curtis Stigers, John Medeski, Randy Brecker and Fred Hersch.
Terrell Stafford has been hailed as "one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player" by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Known for being a gifted and versatile player with a voice all his own, Stafford combines lyricism and a deep love of melody with a spirited, adventurous edge. This uniquely expressive, well-defined musical talent allows Stafford the ability to dance in and around the rich trumpet tradition of his predecessors while making his own inroads. Terrell has also played with McCoy Tyner's Latin All-Stars, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, and Mingus Big Band. Mentor Tyner noted, "Terell is one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player. He has his own voice on his instrument—a very personal sound." terrellstafford.com
